Municipal HallCouncil Meetings

Council Meetings are held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office – 160 Connaught Street. Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. Regular Council Meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month and Committee of the Whole Meetings are held quarterly on the third Monday of each month.  The public is welcome to attend all open Council and Committee meetings.

Meeting Agendas & Minutes
Meeting agenda packages are posted online no later than the Thursday afternoon before Council and Committee of the Whole meetings. Minutes are available to view by the end of day Thursday following the meeting.

Presenting/Requests to Mayor & Council

General requests of Council must be made by submitting the General Request Form. Requests must be received by 12:00 p.m. on the Monday one week prior to the meeting.   The best way to ensure your request is submitted on time is via email to the Corporate Officer.  Failure to meet this submission deadline may result in the request being scheduled for the next Regular Council Meeting. Requests become public documents and are published in the agenda package.  Personal information (e.g. email address, phone number) will be redacted.

A Delegation is a presentation by a person or persons on behalf of an organization or association. Members of the public can present to Council at Regular Council Meetings, pending approval by the Corporate Officer.

All requests to the Corporate Officer must be made in writing using the Delegation Request Form. Please download the form before filling it out. After completing the form, please email it to the Corporate Officer. Your presentation must be on a matter within the District’s jurisdiction and must not promote a private business.  You will be contacted by Staff to confirm your presentation date and time.

Resolutions or Letters of Support are commonly required for grant applications. Individuals, non-profits, or organizations may request these by submitting a Resolution of Support or Letter of Support Request Form.

Public Hearings are a formal process held by Council to receive public input on Zoning or Official Community Plan bylaw amendments. In accordance with the Local Government Act, any person who believes that their interest in property is affected by the proposed bylaw is given an opportunity to speak. Public Hearings are advertised in the Omineca Express, posted on the District website and social media accounts, and at the Municipal Office.
