The District of Vanderhoof is hosting free opportunities for residents to participate in the recreational options available in Vanderhoof!
Recreation helps people live longer and contributes to a healthy, strong community. In addition, it can provide safe developmental opportunities for young families and a great way to meet people in your community. For Recreation Week, the District offers free opportunities for all residents to enjoy!
MONDAY, MAY 16th: Free swim at the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre!
The Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre will be open for a free swim from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm! All ages are welcome and encouraged to try out the Aquatic Centre!
TUESDAY, MAY 17th: Disco Rollerblading at the Vanderhoof Arena!
Get your disco pants ready for a groovy time! ♬ The Vanderhoof Arena is turning down the lights, cracking the glow sticks, and turning up the tunes for a rollerblading dance party from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm! There will be free rollerblade and helmet rentals available. All ages are welcome, and residents are encouraged to dress in their disco best!
WEDNESDAY, MAY 18th: Try Pickleball at the Vanderhoof Arena!
The Vanderhoof Pickleball Club wants you to come and try Pickleball from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the fastest growing sport! It’s a combination of badminton, tennis, and ping pong – easy to learn and hard to stop once you are in it!
THURSDAY, MAY 19th: Floor Hockey at the Vanderhoof Arena!
Bringing back a favourite winter sport without the skates! Join us for free Drop-In Floor Hockey from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. All ages are welcome; please bring your stick and get ready to play!
FRIDAY, MAY 20th: Rollerblading and BBQ at Riverside Park for the opening of the Riverside Park Campground!
Rollerblades will be available for rent (with a small deposit refunded when rollerblades are returned) and yard games for everyone to use! So, grab your friends for an evening of park games and rollerblading, and from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm – free BBQ hotdogs, juice boxes, and chips!
