Nomination packages for the 2026–2030 term of office for the District of Vanderhoof Council are available:
- online at vanderhoof.ca/municipal-hall/2026-election/
- at the District of Vanderhoof Municipal Office, 160 Connaught Street
Nominations will be accepted for:
- One (1) Mayor
- Six (6) Councillors
Nomination documents may be submitted to the Chief Election Officer:
- In person at the District of Vanderhoof Municipal Office, or
- By email to corporate@vanderhoof.ca
Nomination documents will only be accepted between 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and 4:00 pm on Friday, September 11, 2026. Documents emailed outside of these dates and times will not be considered submitted.
Please Note: The Municipal Office is closed September 5, 6, and 7, 2026.
Under the Local Government Act, each candidate must be nominated in writing by two (2) qualified electors of the District of Vanderhoof.
To be nominated, elected and hold office, a person must:
- be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026);
- be a Canadian citizen;
- have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six (6) months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
- not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia, or from being nominated for, elected to, or holding local government office, or otherwise be disqualified by law.
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, the campaign expense limits for the 2026 General Local Election during the campaign period (September 19 to October 17, 2026) are:
- Mayor: $12,323.78
- Councillor: $6,161.89
Also in accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, the third-party directed advertising expense limit for the 2026 General Local Election is $924.28.
