Literacy plays an important role in all of our lives, at every stage of life, to improve quality of life at home, at work and in the community. This year’s theme is #LiteracyRippleEffect.
The Vanderhoof Public Library and their Community Adult Literacy Program set out to highlight the importance of literacy and support community-based literacy programs and initiatives in and around Vanderhoof.
It is estimated that over 700,000 British Columbians struggle with literacy, and nearly 50% of BC residents, ages 16-65, may find it difficult to understand newspapers, instruction manuals, health information or financial documents.
