Membership passes and drop-in visits at the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre will increase by 10 per cent effective October 1st, 2023. This rate increase was approved by Council and announced in August 2022, but the decision was made not to implement the change until October 1st of this year.
Last fall, the District of Vanderhoof and the YMCA increased wages for lifeguards and other employees at the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre. A 10 per cent rate increase was approved to offset the additional costs for this necessary wage increase. This wage increase, which has made a great impact, was taken to address critical staffing shortages and continued challenges with recruiting lifeguards.
