Who are you voting for?

Candidates will be listed here once candidate nomination documents are submitted during the Nomination Period (September 1 to 11, 2026).

  • be a Canadian citizen
  • have lived in BC since March 16, 2026
  • be a resident of the District of Vanderhoof
  • be legally allowed to vote (you cannot be disqualified under the law)

Non-resident Property Elector – you own property in Vanderhoof but live elsewhere in BC

To vote in the election, you must:

  • not qualify to vote as a resident of the District of Vanderhoof (Resident Elector, above)
  • be 18 years of age or older on October 17, 2026

If a property is owned by a company, numbered company or trust, no one can vote as a non-resident property elector for that property. If the property title lists both a company or trust and an individual, no one is eligible to vote for that property.

If you plan to vote in person as a non-resident property elector, it’s recommended you complete a Non-Resident Property Elector Registration Form before voting day.

When you vote, you will need to bring:

  • Identification required to vote (see below)
  • Proof you own the property
  • Written Consent from the majority of the other registered owners (if there are any), confirming you are the one person designated to vote for the property

*What is a Resident?

  • Your residence doesn’t change until you establish a new permanent place to live
  • You don’t lose your residency if you’re away temporarily (for example, on vacation, working away or receiving medical treatment)

If you move to attend school, you can choose to be considered a resident of either:

  • the community where you usually live, or
  • the community where you are living while attending school

You cannot vote where you live and where you go to school.

When you sign a declaration prior to voting, you are making a solemn declaration.
There are significant penalties for signing a false declaration.
