>May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women & Girls. It is widely recognized as Red Dress Day, a day to recognize, honour and raise awareness and education about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, two spirited, and men.
Indigenous women are three times more likely than non-indigenous women to be the victims of violence. Empty red dresses are displayed to remind us of the violence, and the women who are no longer among us. Today we remember those that are lost.
